Nancy has now been recognised for her success in the qualification as part of the Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards. The Awards, organised by Cambridge Assessment International Education, the awarding organisation which delivers the qualification, recognise the outstanding performance of those students who have excelled in their courses.

As part of her studies towards the qualification, Nancy completed a research project on whether or not hate speech should be criminalised in the United States. She is currently studying Human, Social and Political Science at the University of Cambridge and is continuing to support the school with future Oxbridge applications.

The Pre-U Certificate seeks to engage learners by offering the opportunity for open debate and to complete research on their own topic, and for those looking to progress to higher education, helps to build the skills to help them excel in undergraduate study.

Cambridge Assessment International Education aims to help prepare school students for life, developing their curiosity and passion for learning through a range of qualifications and education programmes.

          Nancy Dooley, award winner, said:

“I am thrilled to have received this award! I really enjoyed studying for this qualification and found the independent research challenging but extremely interesting and rewarding.

It has taught me a great deal and helped me to develop skills that I know will be really useful as I continue my education.”

Joanna Wadey, Head of School of the Rochester Grammar School, said:

“We are exceptionally proud of Nancy and her achievement. She has always been a dedicated and hardworking student and deserves the recognition this award brings. We wish her every success in her next chapter.”

Stuart Gardner, Chief Executive of the Thinking Schools Academy Trust, said:

“This is an absolutely fantastic achievement for Nancy and one she should be exceptionally proud of. Thanks must go to the Cambridge Assessment International Education for providing Nancy and other students with this wonderful opportunity, we hope more of our students can take advantage of it and be as successful as Nancy.

Additionally, thanks must go to the team at Rochester Grammar School who have worked extremely hard to support Nancy throughout this process.”
